FAQs
Who is Facet Lane?
Facet Lane is an Australian online store offering an extensive range of certified lab-grown diamonds. We focus on exceptional value, transparency, and quality, helping you buy with confidence. We provide personalised support every step of the way and can help source specific diamonds to match your needs.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship to Australia only. All orders are securely packaged and dispatched with Australia Post. Shipping is insured within Australia, with rates calculated at checkout.
If you live outside of Australia and you are hoping to make an order, please contact us at hello@facetlane.com.au so we can try to accommodate your order.
Do you ship to the United States, and will I need to pay any tariffs or duties?
Unfortunately, due to delivery inconsistencies related to the tariffs, we are currently not shipping to the United States.
How can I be sure the diamonds are genuine?
All diamonds listed on Facet Lane are independently certified by reputable gemological laboratories such as GIA or IGI. During browsing, certification details are available upon request, and all official certification paperwork is included with each diamond purchased.
Why are Facet Lane’s prices so much lower than other online or retail jewellers?
At Facet Lane we operate differently from traditional jewellery retailers. We are an Australia-based online store with direct access to the world’s largest diamond suppliers, meaning we don’t hold expensive retail stock or maintain costly storefronts. By keeping our operations lean and transparent, we pass those savings directly on to our customers. You’re getting the same certified diamonds that high-end retailers sell just without the high retail markups.
Are your prices inclusive of taxes?
Facet Lane's prices are inclusive of GST on Australian orders. For international customers, local taxes and import duties may apply and are the responsibility of the buyer.
Do you offer a returns policy?
Yes. For our full returns policy, please refer to the “Refund Policy” located at the bottom left of our homepage.
For Australian customers, loose diamonds may be returned within 7 days of delivery or arrival to our studio, provided the diamond is unworn, undamaged, and returned in its original packaging. A $100 AUD restocking fee applies per diamond, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. To initiate a return, please email hello@facetlane.com.au
Please note that we do not offer change of mind returns or exchanges for Create a Ring orders, Ready-made Jewellery, Custom Jewellery, or international orders. Cancellation of Create a Ring and Custom Jewellery orders is not possible once an order has been agreed upon, purchased, or a deposit has been placed. Any cancellation of a Create a Ring or Custom Jewellery order will result in a total loss of the payment or deposit.
For international customers, we offer a complimentary pre shipment video service for loose diamond orders upon request. This allows you to view your diamond in various lighting conditions before it is shipped. If you have any concerns after reviewing the video, you are welcome to exchange or cancel the order prior to shipment. Please note this will incur a $100 AUD supplier restocking fee.
Can I speak to someone before making a purchase?
Absolutely. We’re here to help, whether you want assistance selecting a diamond, comparing options, finding a matched pair, or creating a ring. Email us at hello@facetlane.com.au or send us a message via Instagram, Facebook or the website contact form or live chat.
Can you help me find a diamond I’ve seen elsewhere?
Yes. If you've seen a diamond elsewhere or have specific requirements in mind, we can often source the same or a similar diamond through our global network. Send us the details and we’ll do our best to help.
Do you offer engagement ring settings or just loose diamonds?
We now offer our Create A Ring feature - allowing you to choose your ideal diamond and pair it with a setting of your choice in white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. Our current turnaround time for our completed rings is 5-7 weeks.
Is it safe to buy diamonds online?
Yes. Facet Lane uses secure payment systems and encrypted checkout processes to protect your information. We are a registered Australian business and take customer service and satisfaction seriously.
What's the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are visually identical to natural diamonds, but are created in a laboratory using advanced technology. They offer excellent value and are a popular, sustainable alternative. Our lab diamonds are certified and come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and qualities.
Do you offer a warranty?
Facet Lane offers a 3-month defect warranty on all jewellery pieces, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What is covered
Our defect warranty covers manufacturing faults that occur under normal wear, including:
-
Structural defects in the setting or band
-
Manufacturing issues with prongs, clasps, or settings identified within the warranty period
-
Faults that affect the integrity of the piece and are not caused by wear, impact, or misuse
- Incorrect metal purity used
If a defect is confirmed, Facet Lane will assess the piece and, where appropriate, arrange a repair, replacement, or refund in line with Australian Consumer Law.
What is not covered
Our defect warranty does not cover damage or loss caused by normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or misuse. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Loss of a centre stone or accent stones due to loose, bent, worn, or damaged prongs
-
Stones that are chipped, cracked, or broken
-
Discolouration or damage caused by exposure to chemicals, cosmetics, cleaning products, chlorine, or harsh environments
-
Deterioration of prongs or precious metals over time as a result of daily wear
-
Bent, caught, or worn prongs that have resulted in a loose or lost stone
-
Damage caused by impact, pressure, improper storage, or alterations performed by a third party
Normal wear and tear is not considered a manufacturing fault. Precious metals naturally wear over time, particularly on prongs and settings, and this is an expected characteristic of fine jewellery.
Facet Lane is not responsible for damage, defects, stone loss, or structural issues arising after third-party work has been undertaken.
Ongoing care and maintenance
To help protect your jewellery, we strongly recommend having your pieces professionally inspected every 6–8 months by a qualified local jeweller. Inspections should include checking prongs, settings, clasps, chains, and bands. Regular maintenance is essential to identify wear early and prevent stone loss or damage.
If you have any questions about warranty coverage or need assistance, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
A note about finished jewellery
Facet Lane rings and jewellery pieces are created using a combination of CAD design and traditional hand finishing techniques. As each piece is individually handcrafted and set by hand, very minor variations may occur in the final finish. These can include subtle differences in prong placement when viewed under magnification, slight variations in band width or depth due to polishing and finishing, or other small characteristics that reflect the nature of handmade jewellery. Such variations are normal and fall within acceptable tolerances for fine, hand finished pieces.
